Patricia M Lopez
Solution Maker
Patricia Lopez was born in Venice, California, but her family and her happiest memories come from Sinaloa. Her passion for Mexican cuisine started when she was just a little girl and used to spend hours in her grandma’s kitchen. She was always eager to help and learn as much as she could. She would carefully look at everything her grandmother prepared, the ingredients she chose, the way she cut, peeled or even beat. She learned all of her secrets, those that made a meal taste unique and irreplaceable: mom’s home cooking. Now, as a grown up, she has managed to polish her culinary virtues and there are still aromas that take her back to her childhood, specially to that wooden table that her grandmother used for years to prepare meals for the entire family. Additionally, she likes to dance and play sports. But most of all, Patricia enjoys spending time in the kitchen preparing home cooked meals just like her grandma.

About Us

Our Mission: To provide families with high-quality canned foods that preserve the fresh flavor of Mexican cuisine, facilitate preparation, and are available at an affordable price to consumers.

Our History: The history of Conservas La Costeña, a 100% Mexican company present in several countries around the world, dates back to the year 1923, when Don Vicente López Resines acquired a grocery store called La Costeña and started preparing "Serrano" chilies and "largo" chilies in vinegar, which he sold in 44 lbs cans.

In 1937, he started making his own cans manually, thereby opening up a new chapter in the company's history.

In 1948, he founded a new production plant in Mexico City that covered an area of 1.2 acres. The plant had forklift trucks and new distribution units, which gave rise to a substantial increase not only in production, but also in distribution.

Three years later, in 1951, he installed the first automatic production line for 6.6 lbs cans, and by 1955 he also had one for making 3.7 oz cans. At around this time, La Costeña started distributing its products in other parts of the country.

In 1971 La Costeña moved to Ecatepec, in Estado de México, where it had a plant covering an area of 44.5 acres. Thanks to its continuous expansion program, it soon grew to 61.7 acres.

The year 1975 was a decisive one for the company, as it witnessed the launching of foreign trade with the United States - where it currently enjoys solid presence - to satisfy the requirements of the Hispanic market, which is one of the great strengths of La Costeña.

After several years of efforts to achieve constant growth, in 1991 La Costeña opened a canning plant in Sinaloa that produces tomato puree, vegetables, and other products. Three years later, in 1994, it opened another plant in San Luis Potosí, to achieve its resource optimization and exportation targets.

Work on the construction of a fully automatic and robotized warehouse, one of only a handful in Mexico, began in 2006. This modern approach afforded the company greater storage capacity and allowed it to automatically restock traditional shelves.

La Costeña uses cutting edge technology, and each year invests in what really matters: quality, flavor and distribution. In Mexico the brand's name is synonymous with pride for its presence all over the world, where it constantly strives to satisfy all its consumers.
